Dapper Ducks 2021
In this series, I explore the iconic form of the rubber duck, reinterpreting it through plaster casting and diverse materials. Each duck is created by pouring plaster into a hand-made silicone mold, preserving the familiar shape but transforming it into something new. By decorating these plaster ducks with a variety of materials—ranging from paint to fabric to found objects—I bring a playful yet thoughtful approach to the work. The juxtaposition of hard plaster with soft or unexpected textures challenges the viewer’s perception of an everyday object, inviting reflection on transformation, materiality, and nostalgia. Through this process, I explore how simple forms can be elevated and reimagined through creativity and experimentation.
