Imposter 2020

This piece draws heavy inspiration from the popular game Among Us, where players work together to find the imposter hiding among them. The game’s themes of deception, suspicion, and identity resonate deeply with my experience as an artist, especially within the realm of pop art. In the art world, the feeling of being an imposter—of not belonging or being "found out"—is a constant undercurrent. This imposter syndrome, much like in the game, creates tension and self-doubt, where the artist questions their own legitimacy, even while creating. By merging the playful, colorful aesthetics of Among Us with the bold visuals of pop art, I explore the duality of being both a creator and a perceived outsider. The work serves as a commentary on identity, authenticity, and the pressure artists often feel to prove themselves. Just as the imposter hides in plain sight, so too does the artist grapple with their own insecurities behind vibrant, outward-facing works.
