Take Me To The Canyon 2020
This screen print captures a bird's-eye view of a canyon and water, stylized to convey the constant motion of nature’s elements. Inspired by the vivid storytelling in Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey, the piece reflects the rugged beauty and profound solitude of the desert landscape. Abbey’s writing evokes a sense of raw, untamed wilderness, which I sought to mirror in the fluidity and dynamic lines of the print. Through the use of movement in the composition, I aim to represent the forces of nature—wind, water, and time—shaping the canyon over millennia. This work invites viewers to connect with the deeper rhythms of the natural world, urging a contemplation of both its power and fragility, much like Abbey’s reflections in his desert explorations.
